عندما قدم الرسول صلى الله عليه وسلم إلى المدينة (كانت تسمى آنذاك "يثرب") مهاجرا توقف في ضاحيتها الجنوبية الغربية عند بني عمرو بن عوف في "قباء"، وأقام عند شيخهم كلثوم بن الهِدْم أربعة أيام أسس خلالها مسجدا سُمي لاحقا "مسجد قباء"، ثم واصل سيره حتى بلغ المدينة حيث استقر به المقام وأنشأ الدولة الإسلامية.
When the Messenger of God, may God bless him and grant him peace, arrived in Medina (which was then called “Yathrib”) as an immigrant, he stopped in its southwestern suburb with Bani Amr ibn Awf in “Quba’”, and stayed with their sheikh, Kalthoum ibn al-Haydam, for four days, during which he founded a mosque that was later called “Quba’ Mosque”. Then he continued on his way until he reached Medina, where he settled and established the Islamic state.
